The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) is a constitutional body established in terms of section 189 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, 2013. Its primary administrative mandate, as provided in section 190 of the Constitution, is to promote and facilitate the independence and accountability of the judiciary and maintain the administration of justice in Zimbabwe in a high state of effectiveness, efficiency and transparency. The JSC acts as a conduit between the Government and the Judiciary. It is also constitutionally mandated to provide the necessary administrative, regulatory and technical support that creates an optimum environment for the delivery of world-class justice to the citizens of Zimbabwe. In terms of its composition, the Judicial Service Commission is comprised of 13 Commissioners. The Honourable Chief Justice is the Chairperson, with the Honourable Deputy Chief Justice as Deputy Chairperson. The Judge President of the High Court is also part of the Commission. In addition, the Commission is composed of diverse and professionally skilled persons such as legal practitioners, professors of law, auditors and human resource practitioners.
